Time to Detox…
A few years ago, the idea of BLisS was born. It’s an acronym for Balanced Living is Simple. It was a great idea, and at first it involved a series of lectures and workshops aimed at Yoga concepts beyond physical practice. The idea got placed on the back burner when our studio moved to its bigger, more metro, location. I have decided to bring it back though. This time, as a lifestyle support group.
Our first task is to reboot our bodies. This task is expected to take about 4-6 months. That’s right, if you want lasting change, it takes time. I’m going to start first and keep you posted on the results, but here’s a summary of what and why.
I’ve noticed that my body is not as happy with me as it once was. My mood is not as cheery, my energy is lower than normal, and my mind is not quite as sharp. It could be that I’m getting older, menopause (which is what I keep blaming), or it could also be something else. It could be that my digestive system is out of balance.
I’ve been reading about the mind/belly relationship in recent months, and have determined that it is time for me to detox my gut. But I don’t just want to detox. I want to heal, and I want to support balance throughout ALL of my body’s systems. So, I did what any self-respecting yogini would do, I turned to Ayurveda. Ayurveda (the science of life) is one of the oldest systems of health care. I’m not talking about disease treatment, but actually promoting and sustaining balance and health in the body. Our body and our mind are intimately involved by the way. One has a great influence on the other.
My body has been struggling with IBS, allergies, and asthma, since I was in elementary school. I’ve been susceptible to migraine headaches almost as long. In recent years, I’ve developed arthritis-like symptoms, bone loss, and high cholesterol. For only short periods of my life have I had these symptoms ‘under control’. I’m ready for sustainable change.
I have adapted/customized an Ayurvedic re-boot plan from renowned Integrative Neurologist, Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary, that has shown some excellent results in all of these areas. In addition, it has been promoted to increase mental clarity, energy, and weight loss. As soon as my supplies come in, I will start. It should be in about a week. This plan takes 4-6 months to get the body back into a state of balance. I will report frequently on my progress. From what I have seen, most people who do it, start to really notice a difference after 10 days. Once the re-boot plan is complete, I will start working on maintenance. I define maintenance as living more in line with my Ayruvedic Dosha. We will talk about all of that as the program progresses.
If you are interested in joining me on this journey, I will start holding a weekly gathering after day 10, to help you get started, and discuss how to personalize the plan for you. The first month’s supplies cost me about $55, and I will be happy to attain them for you at my cost. I’m not looking to profit off of this endeavor. I am looking to thrive physically, and having friends join me on this journey will definitely improve my chance of success.
The first step is to add a few things to my daily routine. Things that will help my body eliminate toxins more efficiently. This step is prescribed to be 4 weeks long. However, I have seen people consistently report noticing a difference in the way they feel around day 10. So If you are game, you are welcome to join me. On day 10, I will tell you if I feel any different. If at that point, I do notice positive results, I will begin taking orders for the Step 1 kit and scheduling a weekly gathering.
Wish me luck 🙂
